Scratching an itch

Kind of surprised me that I haven't done a post on this particular issue yet. It's an itch I've had for years.. I'll scratch it a bit here. What is that itch? The "airport store". The one that carries nothing you'd typically buy at an airport store, like magazines, little games, newspapers, gum, etc.

Heading out on a 6 to 12 hour journey.. you get through check-in and the TSA nazis, and you end up in the middle of a Duty Free Shoppers (DFS) luxury goods store! No newspapers, no magazines, no batteries.. just overpriced leather goods and trinkets.

Of course you then head out to the departure area to find a can of coke costs $4.00 and a heated up mini frozen pizza costs even more.

It's insane. We make sure that we leave a bad taste in our tourist's mouths, from the time they arrive and get into their overpriced taxi.. to the time they depart. This whole system needs to be changed as well. It's a take what we can, and screw the future system.. that ensures we don't have tourists dying to come back here.
